For rail
Cable sand for rail cable routes
Most lineside cables run in troughing, but wherever cables or ducts go in the ground, at under-track crossings, road crossings and buried routes, they need bedding and blinding in clean, stone-free sand. We deliver cable sand to rail compounds and access points anywhere in the UK, with the tonnage and timings worked around possessions.

What you usually need

Clean, stone-free sand for bedding and surrounding buried cables and ducts.
Bulk bags
About 850 kg each, craned off at the access point. Easy to move by road-rail plant or on site.
Loads to a compound

What matters on your jobs
Possessions and access
Work happens in set windows. Tell us the possession dates and the access point or compound, and we deliver ahead of time.
The job’s spec
Rail cable routes follow the project and Network Rail specs. Send yours with the enquiry and we price what it asks for.
Troughing and buried routes
Network Rail’s cable troughing spec covers the troughs themselves; sand comes in where cables and ducts are buried. Tell us which parts of the route are buried.
Paperwork
Ask for our test certificate with your enquiry if the job needs test results for the sand.
Questions
Can you deliver to a rail access point?
Yes. Tell us the access point, any road or weight limits, and the time window, and we arrange the delivery around it.
Do you supply bulk bags for rail work?
Yes. About 850 kg each, lifted off by the lorry’s crane, so you do not need a forklift at the access point.
Which sand do rail cable crossings need?
Your project spec sets it. Clean, stone-free cable sand is the usual choice for bedding and surrounding buried cables and ducts.
