For fibre and telecoms
Cable sand for fibre and telecoms
Fibre broadband and telecoms builds put ducts and cables in the ground mile after mile: along verges and footways, into chambers and out to homes and businesses. Clean, fine sand around the duct keeps stones off it and makes reinstatement easier. Most of this work needs standard cable sand rather than tested sand, and we deliver it in bulk bags or tipper loads anywhere in the UK.

What you usually need
Standard cable sand
Clean, fine, stone-free sand for bedding and surrounding ducts. No test certificate needed for most fibre work.
Bulk bags
About 850 kg each, craned off. Easy to drop along a route or at the compound for crews to draw from.
Tipper loads
For long trench runs on bigger builds, tipped at a compound or stockpile.
What matters on your jobs
Long, moving routes
Fibre builds move fast along a route. Tell us where the gangs are working and we drop bags where they need them next.
Footways and verges
Most of the work is in the public highway. Tell us about traffic management and the drop points.
Narrow trenches
Micro-trenches and narrow cuts take less sand than you might think. Put the length, width and sand depth into the calculator.
Steady supply
Builds run for months. Tell us roughly what each gang gets through and we keep you topped up.
Questions
Do fibre ducts need tested cable sand?
Usually not. Most fibre and telecoms work uses standard clean, fine cable sand. If your client’s spec asks for tested sand, tell us and ask for our test certificate.
Can you deliver bags along a route?
Yes. Tell us the drop points and any access limits, and we deliver bulk bags where your gangs need them.
How much sand for a fibre trench?
Put the trench length, width and sand depth into the cable sand calculator. It takes the ducts off and gives tonnes and bulk bags.
