Delivery
Cable sand delivered anywhere in the UK
Loose by tipper or artic, or in bulk bags lifted off by crane. We deliver to any site in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, including the Scottish islands, from a single bulk bag. Usually next day on mainland Britain.
Three ways to have it delivered
Tipper loads
From 10 tonnes; about 20 on an 8-wheeler
Our usual way, and with artics the cheapest way to get sand to site. Tipped loose where you want it. Smaller tippers for tight sites and smaller jobs.
Artic loads
About 28 to 30 tonnes
For long cable runs, solar and wind farms and big network jobs, where the tonnage adds up. The lowest haulage cost per tonne, if the site can take an artic.
Bulk bags
About 850 kg a bag
Lifted off by the lorry’s own crane, so you do not need a forklift. Handy on tight sites, along a cable route, or for a small job.
Load sizes are a guide. The exact tonnage depends on the lorry and the sand, and we confirm it with your price.
Where we deliver, and what it costs
Anywhere in the UK: every part of England, Scotland and Wales, Northern Ireland and the Scottish islands.
Usually next day on mainland Britain. Northern Ireland and the Scottish islands take longer because of the ferry. We confirm the delivery day with your price.
Sand is heavy, so the haulage to your site is most of the price, and the further from the quarry, the more it costs. That is why every job is quoted rather than one price for everyone. Full loose loads by tipper or artic give the lowest price per tonne.
What we need to know for the delivery
Site postcode and access
Any width or weight limits, low bridges, gates or soft ground between the road and where you want the sand.
Where to tip or set the bags
A firm, level spot the lorry can reach. Keep it clear of trenches you do not want filled.
Overhead lines
Tell us about any overhead power lines near the drop. A tipper body or crane arm raised near them is dangerous.
Who will be there
A name and phone number on site, and any times the site cannot take a delivery.
Send the form with the postcode and how much you need, and we go through the rest when we call you back with the price. You can have a sample first, and you can ask for our test certificate.
Questions
How much cable sand is in a bulk bag?
About 850 kg. So a tonne is a little over one bag, and 20 tonnes is around 24 bags.
Is there a minimum order?
One bulk bag, about 850 kg, for bags. For loose sand by tipper, the minimum is 10 tonnes. Anything from there up to artic loads is priced to suit.
Do I need a forklift for bulk bags?
No. Bulk bags come on a crane lorry and are lifted off with its own crane. The driver needs a clear, firm spot within reach of the crane, and no overhead lines above it.
Which is cheaper, loose or bulk bags?
Loose loads by tipper or artic are the cheapest way to buy cable sand, because there are no bags and a full load spreads the haulage over more tonnes. Bulk bags cost more per tonne but are easier on tight sites and small jobs.
How is the delivery priced?
By the sand and the haulage to your site. Sand is heavy, so distance makes the biggest difference, which is why every job is quoted. Tell us the postcode and how much you need and we come back with a price.
