For homeowners
Cable sand for a garden office or charger
Running power down the garden to an office, workshop or summer house, or out to a car charger, means a trench with clean sand around the cable to keep stones off it. Most home jobs need a bulk bag or two. We deliver anywhere in the UK, and one bag is fine.

What you usually need
A bulk bag or two
About 850 kg a bag. Enough for most garden trenches. Use the calculator to check.
Cable sand
Clean, fine sand with no stones in it, for under and over the cable.
Delivered by crane
Lifted off the lorry onto your drive or front garden, so you do not need a forklift.
What matters on your jobs
Ask your electrician first
How deep the cable goes, what type it is and how it is protected are set by the wiring regulations. Your electrician will tell you how much sand the trench needs.
Where the bag goes
The crane needs to reach a firm spot near the road with nothing overhead. Tell us where you want it.
Not building sand
A clean, fine, stone-free sand is what protects the cable. Avoid sand with stones or rubble in it.
Small job, same care
One bag or twenty, it is priced to your postcode and delivered to your door.
Questions
How much sand for a garden office cable?
Measure the trench length, then ask your electrician for the width and how much sand goes under and over the cable. Put those into the cable sand calculator. A typical garden run is a bulk bag or two.
Can you deliver just one bag?
Yes. The minimum is one bulk bag, about 850 kg.
Do I need cable sand or will any sand do?
Use a clean, fine sand with no stones, because stones are what damage a cable over time. Cable sand is made for exactly that.
