What we do with your details
This explains what happens to the information you give us when you ask for a cable sand quote. Last updated 29 September 2026.
Who we are
Cable Sand is a trading name of Mayo Stone Supplies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12613769). Our registered office is The Rear Yard, 651 Eccles New Road, Salford, M50 1BA.
We decide how your information is used, which makes us the "controller" of it under UK data protection law. For anything to do with your information, email quotes@cablesand.co.uk.
What we collect
When you fill in the quote form:
- your name, phone number and email address, and your company if you give it
- the site postcode, the date you need the sand, what you need and how much
- whether you want a sample first and whether the job needs test certificates
- which page of the website you sent the form from
If you ask for our test certificate: your name, phone number, email address and your company if you give it, and whether you downloaded the certificate.
We also keep a scrambled code made from your internet connection's address, rather than the address itself. It is only used to stop someone sending hundreds of fake enquiries.
If you go on to order, we also hold the delivery address and the details needed to invoice you, plus anything you tell us by email or on the phone.
Like any website host, Cloudflare handles your internet connection's address and basic details about your browser so it can show you the website and protect it from attacks.
What we use it for, and why we are allowed to
Pricing your job and replying to your enquiry
You asked us for a price, so we need your details to give you one (legal basis: steps you ask for before a contract). If you enquire for a business, we also rely on our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries (legal basis: legitimate interests).
Sending you our test certificate, if you ask for it
You asked for it, and we have a legitimate interest in checking who we send it to and in talking to you about your job (legal basis: legitimate interests). We do not add you to a mailing list.
Arranging and delivering your order, and any sample
To carry out our contract with you (legal basis: contract).
Keeping sales records and accounts
The law requires us to keep business records for tax (legal basis: legal obligation).
Stopping spam and keeping the website secure
Our legitimate interest in protecting the website and our inbox from abuse (legal basis: legitimate interests).
Counting visits with Google Analytics
Only if you click Accept on the cookie bar (legal basis: consent). You can change your mind at any time on the cookies page.
We do not sell your information. We do not send marketing emails or newsletters. We do not make automated decisions about you.
You do not have to give us your details, but without them we cannot price your job or deliver to you.
Who we share it with
Cloudflare
Hosts the website, stores enquiries in its database and sends them to our inbox.
Our email providers
one.com (our own inbox) and Microsoft (the inbox of the person who runs this website for us) store the enquiry emails.
The person who builds and runs this website for us
Sees enquiries to check the website and the quote form are working, and to report on how the site is doing. Works only on our instructions.
Provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies. It sees how you use the website, not what you type into the quote form.
Quarries, suppliers and hauliers
Only what they need to supply and deliver your order: the delivery address, the contact name and phone number for the site, the date, and what is being delivered.
Our accountant, and HMRC
Sales records, where needed for our accounts and tax.
Police, courts or regulators
Only if the law requires us to.
Information that leaves the UK
Our enquiries database is stored in western Europe. Our own email inbox is with one.com in Denmark, and UK law treats the European Economic Area as protecting information sent there. Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft are US companies and may handle your information in the United States. All three are certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the UK Government has approved as protecting information sent there.
How long we keep it
- If you ask for a quote or the test certificate but do not order:24 months from your request, in case you come back to us. Then it is deleted. Certificate download links stop working after 14 days.
- If you order: with our sales records for 7 years. The tax rules say we must keep them for at least 5 years after the 31 January tax return deadline for the year of the sale.
- The scrambled connection code: 7 days.
- Google Analytics, if you accepted it: the cookies last 13 months, and Google keeps the visit data for 14 months.
Our database deletes enquiries automatically when these periods end, and we delete the copies in both email inboxes as well.
Cookies
We only set cookies if you accept them on the cookie bar. They are Google Analytics cookies, used to count visits. The cookies page lists them and lets you change your choice at any time.
Your rights
You can:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Ask us to limit how we use it.
- Object to us using it, where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Ask for your information in a format you can take to someone else.
- Withdraw your consent to analytics cookies, on the cookies page.
Email quotes@cablesand.co.uk. It is free. We will reply within one month, or tell you within that month if we need longer because the request is complicated.
If you are unhappy
Tell us first by emailing quotes@cablesand.co.uk. We will confirm we have your complaint within 30 days and look into it without delay.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection. The ICO suggests giving us the chance to sort it out first. Their website is ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint and their helpline is 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
